Meet Lauren
Lauren Watson has been a speech and language pathologist for the past 18 years. She has specialized in stuttering throughout her career and became a board-certified stuttering specialist in 2015.
Board Certified Specialists in Stuttering, Cluttering, and Fluency Disorders (BCS-SCF) are individuals who hold their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) awarded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and have demonstrated a high level of knowledge and clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating individuals with stuttering, cluttering, and fluency disorders. They are recognized by the designation of BCS-SCF. This certification is comparable to board certification held by qualified physicians in a specialty or sub-specialty area.
Lauren has a passion for working with not only her patients but with their entire family. Lauren is trained in The Lidcombe Stuttering Program for preschoolers and has enjoyed working closely with parents throughout the program. Lauren personally understands the importance of focusing on each patient’s individual goals as they create their unique and structured treatment plan. When working with children/adolescents and adults, therapy often includes fluency shaping in addition to building confidence in communication and self-esteem.
In addition to fluency, Lauren has focused on articulation therapy with the use of PROMPT therapy. She has practiced speech language pathology in a Private Practice setting in Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, California. She worked at Mercy Childrens Hospital in St. Louis where she focused on Stuttering, Social Pragmatic Language groups, articulation and was on the Cleft Lip/Palate and Craniofacial Deformities team. She started her own boutique clinic in 2020 after moving back to Texas. She works with patients in preschools, schools, homes and via virtual therapy.
Lauren understands that fluency can be a unique experience for each child, teen, adult and their family. We encourage anyone with recent onset or prolonged stuttering to reach out with any questions about our program.
